2022 Travelers Championship Betting Preview, Odds, Picks & Predictions

The 122nd playing of the U.S. Open provided us with a fantastic and thrilling weekend of golf.

The leaderboard was stacked with the who’s who in golf heading into Sunday, which culminated in the ever even-keeled Matt Fitzpatrick winning his first PGA Tour win at The Country Club — repeating at the same course he won his 2013 U.S. Ametuer.

Will Zalatoris, who held a 2-stroke lead heading into the final 8 holes, missed a putt to force a playoff on 18 and finished yet another major championship as the runner-up.

This week, the Tour heads to TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn. It is the Tour’s only trip to Connecticut this year.

The Travelers Championship has been played since 1952 and despite being played the week after the U.S. Open, the field is loaded with top-tier golfers.

Last year’s tournament ended with an 8-hole playoff between Harris English and Kramer Hickok. We can only hope this year’s tournament provides the same excitement and 8 free holes of extra golf.

What Course Is the Travelers Championship Held At?

TPC River Highlands is a par-70, 6,841-yard course located in a suburb just south of Hartford, Conn. The course was established in 1928 and redesigned by the legendary Pete Dye in 1984.

The course is shorter than most other courses you will find on the PGA tour and has been dominated by the long-ball hitters as of late. However, the most important stat to follow this weekend will be accuracy off the tee.

The course will not feel nearly as short if you are not hitting the fairways and setting up for your approach shot. There will be plenty of birdies to be had this week and the winner will likely be in the red by double digits.

Payouts for the 2022 Travelers Championship

The total purse of the 2022 Travelers Championship is $8,300,000. The winner receives 500 FedEx Cup points and 50 Official World Golf Ranking points.

The champion also receives a two-season exemption on the PGA Tour, as well as inclusion in the 2023 Masters and 2023 PGA Championship, and the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions.

The tournament field is composed of 156 players this week with some of the best in golf teeing it up. Of the official world-ranked golfers, five of the top 10 and 23 of the top 50 are set to tee it up this weekend.
