Now that Luka Doncic and Devin Booker are back from their respective injuries, we should (fingers crossed) get both of these teams at their best.

Phoenix Suns

The Suns survived a minor scare against the New Orleans Pelicans in Round 1, winning the series in six games. Before the series started, most people — myself included — thought that would be a five-game series.

But, Booker pulled his hammy, the Pelicans showed some serious fight and the series was tied 2-2 before the Suns won the final two games.

Now, they face a Mavericks team that looked great to end the season, and survived a scare in the first round. The Suns have beaten the Mavericks nine times in a row, but I don’t forecast a sweep in this one.

Dallas Mavericks

When Doncic went down the literal last game of the regular season, there was legitimate fear he would miss the entire first round of the playoffs. Because of that, the Utah Jazz were decently heavy favorites to win.

Instead, Luka returned in Game 4 (with the Mavs up 2-1 at that point), and they won the series in six games. The Jazz now face major question marks, while the Mavericks move on to face the league-leading Suns.

The win-loss record suggests this series will be over relatively quickly, but I’m not so sure. From Jan. 1 on, the Mavericks had the fourth-best net rating in the NBA, while the Suns were second. Should be a fun one here!
