After down-to-the-wire endings to Games 1 and 2, Game 3 showed the true depth of difference between a healthy Warriors team with momentum and this young Grizzlies team. After leading 28-26 to end the first, the Grizzlies proceeded to get outscored 38-29 in the 2nd, 37-23 in the 3rd, and 41-32 in the 4th, en route to a blowout loss 142-112. Worse than that, however, was the late game knee injury to Ja Morant that may spell the end of the Grizzlies playoff hopes this year – Morant is listed as day-to-day but if he misses this Game 4 match-up or plays hobbled, it may be the smartest course of action for this Grizzlies team to pack it in and start planning for next year.

Grizzlies vs. Warriors Game 4 Betting Preview

Going into Game 4, there are two big questions that immediately come up: what does Morant’s health look like, and will Steven Adams be able to play and affect the interior defense of the Grizzlies to the point where they can regain some footing in this series? Unfortunately for the Grizzlies, Adams was ruled out of Games 1 and 2 due to COVID-19 protocols, and while he was active for Game 3, he had only a short time in at the end of the game, after not being with the team for practice & workouts for the previous 10 days.

As the Grizzlies best rebounder and interior presence, he could conceivably change the way the Warriors are forced to play this match-up, and may prevent them from turning this game into a lay-up line like they did in Game 3.

For the Warriors, they need to look to just do more of the same coming off their Game 3 blowout. Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Jordan Poole continued with their high scoring run, totaling 78 combined points on 26-of-44 from the field. When the three of them are able to score at that rate & efficiency for an entire game, there are very few teams that can beat them due to all three of them being able to stretch the floor out beyond the arc, and make finishing easier for their teammates (like Andrew Wiggins and Jonathan Kuminga) inside.

Saturday’s Game 3 performance looked like the Warriors of old, with such an efficient motion-offense that had the Grizzlies reeling early, and never able to recover. With Morant out for the Grizzlies, and Desmond Bane potentially playing hurt, the Grizzlies just haven’t shown that they have the firepower to compete with this iteration of the Warriors.

Because of how inflated the odds are for the Warriors moneyline (-550), we won’t be touching that. Instead, we’ll be looking at the total score options for this Game 4 match-up. Through three games, the combined total has been an average of 231.33 points per game – that’s obviously inflated by the 142-112 Game 4, so we won’t be looking at anything quite that high for the points total. We’ll be locking in Over 226.5, available for +120 with BetMGM.

I expect the Warriors to win this game, as the Grizzlies best chances of Morant playing hero ball and stealing a few games went down the drain with his knee injury in Game 3. This one should be closer than that game, as the Grizzlies will have the interior presence of Adams available to slow the game down, but I think the Warriors win this one and take the 3-1 series lead headed back to Memphis.

Grizzlies vs. Warriors Game 4 Prediction

The Warriors are the better, more experienced team, and they have health on their side in this match-up through 3 games. I expect them to take a 3-1 series lead and win this one 119-110.
