The Florida swing has not disappointed to date. Last weekend, Scottie took advantage of record setting scoring day at the Players Championship and never let go of the lead. He finished five strokes clear of the nearest competitor and this win has propelled him back to No. 1 in the Official World Golf Rankings. This win is his second this season and sixth of his career.
This week is the last leg of the Florida swing, the Valspar Championship, held at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Florida just northwest of Tampa.

The Valspar Championship is a relatively new tournament which began in 2000 as an alternate event to the Presidents Cup. The tournament is a 72 hole, stroke play, with a cut after 36 holes down to the top 65 Valspar and ties.
Florida weather will be sending us off with a nice mix of everything it’s got. Sunny conditions on Thursday and Friday will make way to rain on Saturday which could cause delays. Wind will also play a factor with speeds ratcheting up daily and set to blow the hardest Sunday which should make for an exciting finish.
The Valspar Championship has been played at Copperhead Course every year it has been held. The course, designed by Larry Packard in 1972, went through restorations in 1999 and 2015. It features rolling hills, tree lined narrow fairways, plenty of bunkers and water hazards.
The Copperhead Course measures in at 7,340 par 71. The course was designed to put positional play at a premium so accuracy off the tee to set up approach shots will be imperative to go low. Distance off the tee is not imperative so solid ball strikers will be a better pick. Putting is always a factor but will likely not be the deciding one this weekend.

Justin Rose’s game fits this course as good as anyone on tour when playing his best golf. In the 11 times he has played this tournament, he has made the cut nine times and has never finished outside the top 30.
He is accurate off the tee and a great ball striker. If Justin can execute this weekend, there is no reason he couldn’t be hoisting another trophy this season.
Adam Hadwin has great accuracy off the tee, great ball striking and is an even better putter which can only help. He also won here in 2017 and finished T7 last year. He knows his way around the course and has the game to back it up.
Keegan Bradley has been playing well enough to have him sitting 4th in the FedExCup Playoff standings. He has quietly amassed 6 top 25 finishes this year. With the field not as deep as the last few tournaments, Keegan should be able to take advantage and have a strong finish this weekend.
