Sharp Bets for WNBA Finals Sun vs. Aces Predictions: Back the Sun in Game 2

We’re headed into Game 2 of the WNBA Finals, and if the rest of this series is anything like Game 1, we’re in for a gritty defensive battle. While the Las Vegas Aces were able to pull out the victory, the Connecticut Sun held them to a season-low in points, and showed that they can absolutely compete with the overall top seed both offensively and defensively.

Connecticut Sun vs. Las Vegas Aces : Sun Moneyline | +175 at Caesars

In the first game of this matchup between the two best teams in the WNBA, we were treated to a surprising result: two offensive dynamos being held to their worst scores of the season. While the Sun have been highly lauded for their defense, the Aces have been an offensive force all season long. While it’s expected that teams will score at a lower rate in the Finals compared to the regular season or early playoffs, the level of defense that was played was absolutely suffocating for both teams.

While we did expect the Aces to win Game 1, I expected them to do so more impressively than they were able to (with the final result essentially coming down to the wire), and the Sun showed that they’re every bit as talented as the Aces, despite the loss. With the defensive intensity and tone being set already, I’m going to favor the stronger defensive team in Game 2.

With that in mind, I’ll be taking the Connecticut Sun moneyline for Game 2 of the WNBA Finals, available for +175 at Caesars. With the Aces offensive and defensive talent, and home court advantage, it’s easy to see why we’re getting this bet at plus-money odds, but I’ve said from the beginning that I expect this to be a back-and-forth series from two teams who have never won a WNBA title, and I expect that to be the case on Tuesday night. It might not be pretty, but the Sun will take Game 2 and this series will be split 1-1 heading to Connecticut later this week.
