AC Milan vs. Juventus Pick: Juventus +0.5 | -129 at BetRivers

It’s always a fun time when two of the biggest clubs in the world go head-to-head in this classic rivalry. AC Milan welcome Juventus to the San Siro in their first encounter of the Serie A season.

Juventus have struggled to get going early on this season, collecting only three wins from their first eight fixtures. The bright news for the Turin outfit is they are getting healthy again and enter this matchup with back-to-back wins under their belt.

The most recent was a 3-1 victory in their Champions League tilt against Israeli club Maccabi Haifa. Juventus will look to carry their momentum into Milan where they have only lost once in their last five trips to the San Siro — twice in their last 10 dating back to 2014. (Yes, I know the squads are vastly different, but there is something to be said for how this team historically travels on the road to Milan.)

AC Milan were not as fortunate in their mid-week Champions League clash with English powerhouse Chelsea, suffering a 3-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge. Their domestic form has been much more consistent, however, with a single loss from their first eight matches, putting them 3 points behind league leaders Napoli (who they lost to 2-1 on Matchday 7) and in contention for the Serie A title come season’s end.

The two squads have proven a tough match for one another over the years with four of their last 10 head-to-head clashes resulting in a draw. Furthermore, only three of those 10 have been won by more than a single goal.

We’re expecting more of the same and with Juventus slowly beginning to show signs of life — backed by their history in Milan, we feel confident in riding with Juventus +0.5 for an early cash to start the weekend.

Udinese vs. Atalanta Pick: Both Teams To Score | -165 at BetRivers

Two of the hottest and most impressive teams in Serie A square off Sunday morning. Udinese who currently sit in the third spot with 19 points welcome second-placed Atalanta (20 points) to the Dacia Arena in what is expected to be an exciting game of soccer.

Who would have expected it? Udinese look like legitimate title contenders earlier on in the season and have given us no indications they are prepared to slow down any time soon. Off the back of six straight wins at the hands of some of Italy’s biggest clubs during that span (Fiorentina, Roma, Sassuolo and Inter Milan) they will be looking to collect another skull — Italian powerhouse Atalanta who are red hot themselves.

Udinese have kept three clean sheets in their four matches played in front of their fans with the lone goal coming in the 3-1 victory over Inter Milan. They are scoring in bunches and keeping the opposition off the scoresheet. Unfortunately, while it is entirely possible that sort of run continues, it will be tough against Atalanta who have scored in all eight of their Serie A matches to date.

Speaking of Atalanta, it looks like they are back after what was considered a disappointing season last term. With six wins from their opening eight matches, Atalanta will feel confident about ending Udinese’s impressive run when considering their track record in recent memory.

Winners of three of their last five head-to-head matchups — and three of the last five played at the Dacia Arena — it is within reason to assume Atalanta will be able to maintain the sort of success considering the form they are currently in.

It would be unwise to look past this Udinese squad, so we’re not going to. We do believe while both squads have shown an ability to keep their opponent off the scoreboard early on this season, they have both also demonstrated an ability to score goals.

We love goals and we’re going to back both squads to find the back of the net at least once. Conceding to either of these teams is nothing to be ashamed of with the quality both sides possess, and that’s what we expect to happen Sunday morning.
