EPL Matchday 11 Picks & Predictions

Leicester City vs. Crystal Palace Pick: Over 2.5 | -121 at BetRivers

Sunday, October 15 | 7:30 a.m. ET

Two squads whose title aspirations are already over by Matchday 11 square off in what should be an exciting encounter, if even for all the wrong reasons. Both clubs sit at the bottom of the table and neither have proven very capable of defending their own goal. What does that mean? Goals.

Leicester City currently sit alone at the bottom of the table in 20th spot with a ridiculous four points having racked up seven losses already. We hate to say it, but if this continues on much longer, this Jamie Vardy led squad may find themselves back in the Championship and their title run of a few years back will be nothing but a distant memory.

They enter this fixture having conceded 24 times in nine matches which doesn’t bode well considering their opponent has shown an ability to score goals. City’s only saviour? The fact they themselves can put the ball in the back of the net having done so 15 times in those nine matches to open the campaign.

The Over 2.5 has hit in eight of Leicester last 10 matches, while also conceding in eight of those 10 – the outliers being an EFL Cup match v. Stockport County (ending in a 0-0 draw) and their 4-0 victory over Nottingham (who are having a very tough time scoring goals on the road) so the odds are certainly in our favour if their recent run of form is any indication of what’s to come.

Crystal Palace are not faring much better in the standings with 9 points to their name and five above their opponent. Like Leicester, Palace are having a difficult time keeping the ball out of their net, and also like Leicester they are proving capable of finding the back of the net in their opponents half. Palace have scored at least one goal in seven of their nine competitive fixtures to date and should do so again today vs. one of the leakiest backlines in English Soccer.

Head-to-head encounters have been exciting in recent memory – four of the last five have seen fans witness 3 goals or more with both sides also collecting a goal in that same span. Given both sides fare well in the final third and have demonstrated an ability to get their sides on the scoresheet, we don’t see why that doesn’t continue again today – more so when factoring in neither side shows much of an interest in playing defence. Let’s start the weekend with an early cash and slam the Over 2.5.

Fulham vs. Bournemouth Pick: Over 2.5 | -118 at BetRivers

Sunday, October 15 | 10:00 a.m. ET

It’s fair to say both of these clubs may be exceeding expectations early on as they sit side-by-side in the Standings at eighth and ninth place respectively.

Fulham welcome Bournemouth to Craven Cottage in a battle of mid-table teams looking to elevate themselves into a top five position while dreaming of playing European Soccer next season. That said – it’s too early to even consider that possibility. Fulham who started off with a very respectable five points in their first three matches have now lost five of their last seven.

While their struggles have mounted in the standings, they have continued to play an exciting brand of Soccer on the pitch – seeing 3 goals or more in eight of their 10 competitive fixtures failing to score only twice (on the road to the Wolves in a 0-0 draw and their EFL tie v. Crawley). Fulham do have one big concern ahead of this clash, and that is the health of star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic who has bagged six goals in his eight EPL appearances so far this term. If Mitrovic is unable to play , things will prove to be more difficult up top, however one bright spot for the club is their most recent clash vs. West Ham where they were still able to get on the scoresheet without their star man uptop (albeit in a losing fashion).

Bournemouth have been impressive as of late, collecting points in five straight matches, however their finishing in the final third has been a bit of a concern – scoring in only five of their last 10, will leave them scratching their heads, but the sense of optimism stems from the fact they are squaring off vs. an opponent who should provide them with chances to right their form and get back to their scoring ways.

While both sides currently sit in respectable positions, it’s not expected to last during the course of the season making this matchup that much more important. Due to that, we believe both squads will go for it and aim for the ever so important three points. The ability of both squads should benefit us in the goals market and we’re going to ride with the Over 2.5.
