NFL is back! Kind of. The preseason is starting, so the NFL is somewhat, close to, almost: back.

While the preseason games obviously don’t matter in terms of wins and losses, there are still important lessons to learn about teams that will matter in the regular season, as well as valuable bets to make.

In this article, we will be previewing the preseason matchup between the Tennessee Titans and the Baltimore Ravens.

Will the Ravens Keep Their Streak Alive?

In a wild stat, the Ravens have now won 20 straight preseason games. John Harbaugh is known for putting more effort into the preseason than most teams, and it shows.

Since he became the Ravens head coach in 2008, the Ravens have a 37-12 preseason record. These aren’t necessarily close games, either. Last year, the Ravens average margin of victory was 18 points! They only allowed 6 points total in their final two games.

Evaluating teams in the preseason can be difficult, and really it just comes down to how much does the coaching staff care, and what is their end goal.

There are teams, for example, like McVay and the Rams, whos entire plan of the preseason is solely to stay healthy. McVay never plays his starters in the preseason. The other end of the spectrum, of course, is Harbaugh.

The main takeaway from the preseason is that you can’t just pencil in the best teams to also perform the best in the preseason. The Browns famously went undefeated in the preseason in 2017, which happened to be the same year they went 0-16 in the regular season.

From the Titans perspective, they went 2-1 in the preseason last year but generally looked rough, according to reports- even with the preseason caveat.

So, unsurprisingly, we are going to go with the Ravens to keep their preseason streak alive. A 20 game win streak is enough of a sample size to know that Harbaugh taking the preseason seriously is no fluke.
