Here’s the thing about James Cook, he’s filthy. Everybody is saying he’s going to be “the guy” in Buffalo this season and I think everybody could be right about this one. For starters, the other backs are Damien Harris and Latavius Murray. No disrespect to those guys but they aren’t pass catchers. Both guys could catch a ball or two, but I doubt they have their number called tonight to do so. If either one gets involved in the pass game, it’s likely because Josh Allen is just checking down.

Why do we care about pass catchers in Buffalo Bills’ pass-game? Because I think they are going to have to get cute with who they throw to tonight. They can’t just do the “throw it to Stefon Diggs all the time” thing tonight. Sauce Gardner won’t have any of that. DJ Reed is no slouch either so another position group besides the wide receivers will likely see some targets. Last year, the Bills targeted their running backs 21 times in two meetings with the Jets. If that happens again, Cook is going to have three catches by halftime. Feels right.
