Thursday Night Football
Cowboys (-10) vs. Titans
Thursday, Dec. 29 | 8:15 p.m. ET
The Titans are reeling. They were one of the hottest teams in the NFL about a month ago, but have now lost five straight, including an ugly loss last week to the Texans.
The Cowboys beat their division rival Eagles last week, but the Titans are the play here. 10 points is a lot, and we can get a value play taking this on FanDuel at +10.5
The unfortunate reality of the end of the NFL regular season is that we get some AWFUL, who cares type games. This is our first who cares game of the week.
Cardinals played the Bucs tough last week, and they keep this one close as well.
The Lions blew a golden opportunity last week when they lost to the Panthers, which now puts their playoff chances in jeopardy. They should be able to take care of business at home against the Bears though, who have put almost every important player on defense on IR.
Don’t look now, but the Jaguars would be in the playoffs if the season ended today! It will mostly come down to next week’s game against the Titans, but good for the Jags for bouncing back after a horrible start.
The Jags stay hot in this one, despite the Texans getting their second win of the season last week against the Titans.
The fallout is starting to happen for the Broncos and Russell Wilson for having one of the worst seasons in modern history, as Denver fired head coach Nathaniel Hackett after last weeks demolition from the Rams.
For this game specifically, two touchdowns is too much, as teams always get somewhat of a bump the week after firing their head coach.
The biggest news heading into this game is that Tua Tagovailoa is almost certain to be out, as he suffered another concussion last week. With that news, the Dolphins went from the favorites to 2.5 point underdogs.
The Dolphins are also reeling, losers of four straight.
Dolphins vs. Patriots Pick: Patriots -2.5 | -110 at BetMGM
Colts vs. Giants (-5.5)
Sunday, Jan. 1 | 1 p.m. ET
Depending on what book you look at, the spread ranges from Giants -4.5 all the way up to -6, with the sharp sportsbooks having this at Giants -5.5 and -6.
The Colts train wreck season continued last week, even with a new QB in Nick Foles, as Indianapolis put up a pathetic showing against the Chargers last week on MNF.
The Eagles blew a golden opportunity to clinch the top seed in the NFC last week, committing four turnovers and giving up a 3rd and 30 in the fourth quarter to the Cowboys last week.
They are dealing with the injury bug at an inopportune time, but they should be able to take care of business at home against the Saints, even if Jalen Hurts is out for this game as well.
I’m not sure the Bucs should be three point favorites over a high school team at this point.
Sure, they got the win last week, but that was by barely beating the Cardinals who were on their third string QB. Not the most impressive thing in the world. At least the Panthers are playing with some energy, despite having Sam Darnold at QB for them.
This game features two awful QBs who were once thought to be the future of the NFL in Deshaun Watson and Carson Wentz. The Browns have scored three offensive touchdowns in the four games since Watson returned from his suspension, so I’ll ride with the Commanders in this one.
Since Brock Purdy has taken over for the injured Jimmy Garoppolo the 49ers are 4-0, with every victory except for one coming by double-digits. This 49ers defensive line is going to cause fits for the Raiders in this one.
Both of these teams once looked like locks to make the playoffs, but are both in the midst of losing streaks that leaves them with little chance of making the playoffs.
The Jets get Mike White back in this one, but reports are that he still won’t be 100% with the rib injury he is working through.
It’s funny that the 12-3 Vikings are underdogs to the 7-8 Packers, but that’s where we are. The Packers are hot as winners of three straight, but the Vikings are addicted to playing in close games.
The battle of LA isn’t quite as exciting as originally thought, with the Rams suffering through an awful injury-riddled season.
The Chargers’ season looked like it was dead when they sat at 6-6, but they have won three straight and clinched a playoff spot. The Rams have been playing with *some* energy with Baker Mayfield at QB, so I’ll count on them to keep this one close.
Despite clinching a playoff birth, the Ravens are not playing inspiring football. The Steelers, meanwhile, have won five of seven and are playing better recently.
In this hated rivalry, the guess here is that this game ends within three points.
This is going to be an awesome game. It’s rare that the Monday Night Football game is also the best game of the week, but that definitely applies here.
The guess here is this is going to be a close game, but the Bengals are the play here. The Bills defense is banged up and hasn’t been as lockdown as they were to begin the season, whereas the Bengals are one of the hottest teams in the NFL.
The Bengals have had a brutal schedule starting a couple weeks ago, and, so far, have yet to lose. They have won seven straight, with wins over the Chiefs, Steelers, Patriots, and Bucs in that stretch.
