Sharp NCAAF Picks for Week 0: Breaking Down 7 College Football Games for Week 0 on Saturday, August 27

Ah, week 0 of the NCAA Football season. It feels like just yesterday we were watching the Rams win the Superbowl in February. Now, it’s almost fall and the college football season is here! To celebrate, I’m breaking down all seven games happening in Week 0 on August 27, 2022.

Nebraska Cornhuskers vs. Northwestern Wildcats

12:30 p.m. ET

This looks to be a pretty one-sided game with a huge advantage to the Cornhuskers. When a team seems to outmatch their opponent so heavily, it can be hard to find bets worth making. However, last year the Cornhuskers had a top 50 defense. This game is also against a much weaker opponent. I like Nebraska’s chances of holding Northwestern to very few points.

Nevada Wolf Pack vs. New Mexico State Aggies

10 p.m. ET

This game may be a mismatch, but it’s not going to be a blowout. Nevada was 3-3 last season in away games and, coincidentally, this is an away game for them! New Mexico State is unlikely to win, but they’ll at least put up a bit of a fight. I’d say enough of a fight to keep it within 10.5 points.

Connecticut Huskies vs. Utah State Aggies

4 p.m. ET

Not a lot to pick from in this game, I really had to dig deep on the OddsJam Software to find a bet worth making. However, I really like the first half total points. I can see the first half going over 30.5 points easily.

Wyoming Cowboys vs. Illinois Fighting Illini

4 p.m. ET

As a longtime Illinois resident, if there’s one thing I know about the Fighting Illini, it’s how heartbreaking they can be. First game of the college football season and an opponent they should handily beat means nothing to this school. That is why I am confidently making the pick of this game Wyoming +11.

Charlotte 49ers vs. Florida Atlantic Owls

7 p.m. ET

Admittedly, I don’t know a whole lot about these teams. This is great because we have a good chance to find some mispriced lines in a lesser known matchup! My favorite line that I found was the Owls first quarter 3-way moneyline. At -134 I really can’t pass it up.

North Texas Mean Green vs. UTEP Miners

9 p.m. ET

This game is what we in the biz call a pick em. Pick a side to win, it’s really a 50/50 shot. My strategy in these types of games is to find some value in the point spread. At the very least, it gives more margin for error. I can get UTEP +2 at -121 so I am going to make that the bet for this game.

Vanderbilt Commodores vs. Hawaii Rainbow Warriors

10:30 p.m. ET

It would appear Hawaii is at a disadvantage in this matchup against an SEC opponent. However, I expect this game to be closely contested. Playing a game on your own island just has that affect on teams. I can get the Rainbow Warriors +9.5 for -121 and I am all over it!
