The best bets and resources to make you more profitable
Last season was one the Purdue Boilermakers could be proud of, winning 9 games for the first time in 18 years! This season, full of hopes and dreams, kicks off against a conference team in the Penn State Nittany Lions.
|Penn State Moneyline||-155|
|Penn State Spread||-3|
|Penn State – Purdue Over/Under||54.5|
|Date & Time||Thursday, September 1 – 6 p.m. ET|
The odds may favor Penn State in this game, but it’s going to be a very tight and closely contested match. If the Boilermakers win this first game they have the chance to put together a very impressive winning streak. Lose this game and the Boilermakers may not see the top 25.
On the other side of the coin, Penn State is already a fringe top 25 team. Solidifying their status as a top 25 team rides a lot on this game. Translation: this game is very important to BOTH teams.
The moneyline bet, in my opinion, can honestly go any way. I like Purdue’s chances to win in this game, but Penn State could just as easily take this game. This is a pick em without even odds. I give the slight edge to the over on the total points of 54.5. First game of the season, high stakes, and a conference matchup. This has all the makings of a solid scoring affair and it makes sense to bet the over.
The point spread is where I find the real value in this matchup. While it is set at +/- 3 on MOST books – one has it at +/- 3.5. The odds for Purdue to cover +3.5 are -122 and BetRivers Sportsbook has it set at -110. Is it a ton of value? No. But I am confident this will be a close game and that little hook makes the Boilermakers +3.5 the best bet in this matchup!
