The Big Ten just had one of the most parity-filled regular seasons you’ll ever see. Entering its final game of the regular season, Northwestern had a chance to finish as high as the No. 2 seed with a win and as low as the No. 9 seed with a loss.
The Wildcats won, so with a 12-8 in conference play, Northwestern did indeed earn that No. 2 seed in the Big Ten tournament. Purdue won the regular season title and will have the No. 1 seed in Chicago.

First of all, we’re getting some value here in comparison to Caesars at +145 and DraftKings at +160. Second, nobody in the Big Ten is very good. I don’t necessarily believe in Purdue as a national title contender, but they are by far the best team in this conference.
The Big Ten is expected to get about nine teams in the NCAA Tournament, but I would be shocked if more than one or two made it out of the first weekend. The reason the standings were so congested is that none of the teams could separate themselves from the middle of the pack, other than Purdue.
Even the Boilermakers struggled down the stretch, losing four of their final eight contests. That said, they did end the season with two consecutive wins over Wisconsin and Illinois so the hope is head coach Matt Painter’s team has figured it out once again.
Purdue does have an impressive resume with nine wins in Quad 1, and all but one of their five losses coming against the top quadrant. The Boilermakers racked up an impressive list of nonconference wins headlined by Marquette, Gonzaga, West Virginia and Duke. All but one of those came by double-digits.
Junior Zach Edey has all but locked up the National Player of the Year award. The 7-foot-4 center averages nearly 22 points and 13 rebounds per game. Visually, he’s a sight to see on the court as he towers over the other post players in the Big Ten.
While I don’t see the Boilermakers going on a run to the Final Four, they are the safe pick to win the Big Ten tournament.
If anyone can knock off Purdue head-to-head it’s Indiana, as the Hoosiers have already done so twice this season. I’m nowhere near as confident in Indiana and their 5-8 record in Quad 1, but it’s undeniable that they may have Purdue’s number.
Knocking off the Boilermakers at Assembly Hall in Bloomington is one thing, but everyone expected Purdue to exact revenge three weeks later at Mackey Arena.
Instead, Indiana controlled the second half en route to a 79-71 win. Freshman guard Jalen Hood-Schifino had a career-high 35 points in the win on a 14-24 shooting performance.
Hood-Schafino is second on the team in scoring behind star senior forward Trayce Jackson-Davis, who’s averaging a double-double with over 20 points and 11 rebounds per game.
