Kevin Durant Meets with Nets Ownership, Reiterates Desire to be Traded

Even though we are in the quiet period of the NBA season where not much news is happening, the Kevin Durant and Brooklyn Nets trade situation was hanging over all of us like a dark cloud.

Well, nothing official has happened yet, but another chapter in the Durant trade request saga was written today when reports came out that Durant met with Nets ownership, and confirmed his desire to be traded.

He met with Nets owner Joe Tsai, and told him that he lacks faith in the direction of the Nets.

Reports also came out that he essentially gave Tsai an ultimatum “me or them” referring to the head coach and general manager combination of Steve Nash and Sean marks.

While there is a ton of hypocrisy on this message from Durant, considering he was heavily influential on almost every bad decision the Nets have made during his tenure with the team, this is still a monumental deal for the entire NBA.

Durant can still be argued to be the best player in all of basketball, and top 15 all time. Although getting older at 34, is fresh off a season in which he averaged roughly 30 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. So…. yea, he is still good.

According to reports, the top 3 contenders to land Durant are the Celtics, the Raptors, and the Heat. None of those teams are a surprise, as they have already been linked to Durant, but this report today just confirms those 3 as the leaders.

It is going to be interesting to watch this play out, as the Nets are reportedly only looking to trade Durant for massive haul. Buckle up folks!
