When Justin Verlander is on the mound it’s only right to take a deeper look into the game. The red-hot Houston Astros play the second game of a series against the Chicago Whitesox and there’s no better spot to target today.
The Astros crushed Chicago last night, outscoring them 13-3. They have scored 38 runs in their last five games. (AVG of 7.6 Runs Per Game). Verlander has allowed only four earned runs over his last three starts (21 Innings Pitched) while Johnny Cueto has allowed nine earned runs over his last three starts. (17 Innings Pitched).
The Whitesox are batting only .237 this season against right-handed pitching, which is ranked 21st in the MLB. The Astros are batting .243 against right-handed pitching which ranks 13th. They have also had a larger sample size against RHP than Chicago, so withholding this batting average over many more ABs speaks volumes.
The Astros are exceptionally great at home with a 17-10 record and are currently on a 3-game winning streak overall. This seems like a play you don’t overthink and simply lock-in, especially while Chicago is still missing a few star bats. Let’s cash another “Best Bet” nice and early today!
