Daily NRFI Prop – September 23, 2022

Milwaukee Brewers vs. Cincinnati Reds No Run First Inning

6:40 p.m. ET

Today, we will ride behind the arm of Mike Minor here to start this matchup. Many may look at the ERA and shy away, however, his first-inning numbers are not only fantastic this season but over the course of his career.

This season, Minor is 16-3 (84%) to the NRFI with an 8-2 split while on his home turf. Here are the Brewers’ hitters against Minor in their careers:

  • Christian Yelich: 3-for-19
  • Hunter Renfrow: 1-for-14
  • Omar Navarez: 0-for-5
  • Willy Adames: 1-for-6
  • Kolten Wong: 1-for-5
  • Luis Urias: 1-for-6

Minor will be taking on the Brewers’ bats, as stated above, that struggle to hit against him. They are currently on a four-game NRFI streak and have only scored in three of their last 10 first innings. There is striking value here as bookmakers spot the ERA and place the odds of this NRFI at -110 without acknowledging matchups, first-inning stats and the algorithm.

Next, Eric Lauer will take over against a Joey Votto-less Reds team that has been struggling heavily recently. This season, Lauer is 21-5 to the NRFI with a fantastic 12-3 NRFI while on the road. Lauer has never faced the Reds so the unfamiliarity should favor him as he looks to escape the first inning scoreless.

As for the Reds, they are the worst first-inning offense over the last two weeks, holding a NRFI record of 14-0.

Ever since losing Votto, they haven’t scored a first-inning run and will be taking on the Brewers’ successful lefty here. They rank 26th in first-inning runs this season so a scoreless 3 outs look incredibly likely here.

As always, trust the numbers when looking for a scoreless first inning.

Cleveland Guardians vs Chicago White Sox No Run First Inning

8:10 p.m. ET

Johnny Cueto will first take over on his home field where he has been fantastic all season and especially in the first inning. This year, Cueto has a 3.09 ERA to go along with a 16-5 NRFI record. Cueto is 2-0 to the NRFI against the Guardians this year with a 1.71 ERA so 3 outs should come easy here.

As for the bats, the Cleveland Guardians will be facing off against Cueto here. The Guardians have only scored in three of their last 10 first innings as of recent. When looking at the matchup, they have struggled to hit Cueto all year as he went 8.2 IP, allowing 0 runs in his last outing. Look for his dominance to continue here once again.

After Cueto, the NRFI legend Shane Beiber will take over against the White Sox as he travels to their home field. Beiber is “him” in the first inning as he holds a NRFI record of 24-4 this season with a 15-2 split while on the road. Beiber is currently on a three game NRFI streak going into tonight and gets an easy matchup with the White Sox here.

The White Sox have struggled all year to hit in the first inning as they rank 23/30 in first inning runs per game. As they look to face Beiber here, who is already 4-0 to the NRFI against the White Sox this season with an ERA of 2.96 through four starts this season. Pairing their struggles with Beiber’s dominance makes 3 outs very tasty for NRFI bettors here.

As always, trust the numbers when looking for a scoreless first inning.

Chicago Cubs vs. Miami Marlins No Run First Inning

6:40 p.m. ET

Since returning from injury two months ago, Jesus Luzardo has been brilliant while on the mound. He is currently riding a 9-0 NRFI streak heading into today. This season, Luzardo is 12-2 to the NRFI with a 5-0 home split as he faces the Cubs at home.

He has not seen the Cubs this season but has dominated them in the past, holding their current lineup to a .160 batting average through 25 at-bats.

Luzardo will be matching up against a struggling Cubs offense that has only scored three times in their last 10 first innings. They have lost three of their last four games and are only averaging 2 runs in those games. Look for Luzardo to continue his first-inning dominance and silence these bats for 3 outs.

Next, we will see Marcos Stroman take over against the worst first-inning offense in baseball as he travels to Miami. This season, Stroman has also been fantastic in the first inning with a NRFI record 18-4 while being 11-1 while on the road.

Stroman is holding the Marlins to a .200 batting average despite not seeing them this season but should be able to handle the worst first-inning offense in the majors.

As for the Marlins, they rank dead last in first-inning runs per game and also have been horrific while at their home field. This season, their offense has a NRFI record of 123-25 (83%) while being 57-16 (78%) while at home.

In the past 10, they have only scored in two of their last 10 and should extend that to nine of their last 11 after facing Stroman here.

As always, trust the numbers when looking for a scoreless first inning.

Daily NRFI Prop – September 20, 2022

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Philadelphia Phillies No Run First Inning

6:45 p.m. ET

With this plus-money NRFI today, Kyle Gibson will get things rolling against the Toronto Blue Jays as they travel to Philadelphia. Gibson has been incredible in the first inning so far this season with a 23-5 NRFI record that includes a 14-2 split at home.

He also matches up well against Toronto, holding their lineup to a .175 batting average through 114 at-bats and only allowing 1 home run.

As for the offense, the Blue Jays will be fending off the arm of Kyle Gibson here. They have only surrendered a score in three of their last 10 first innings as of recent and currently cash the NRFI at 69% this season. As mentioned above, the Blue Jays struggle to hit Gibson and that trend should continue here for the first inning.

Next, Ross Stripling will take on the Philadelphia Phillies on their home turf. This season, he has also been fantastic in the first inning with a 17-4 NRFI record that includes an 8-2 split on the road. Stripling has been red hot as of late with a 2.95 ERA this month and a 1.96 ERA last month. He is currently on a seven-game NRFI streak and will look to extend it to eight here today.

Stripling will be taking on the Phillies here who have struggled immensely in the first inning as of late. They have only scored in one of their past 10 first innings and are currently on a six-game NRFI streak. Stripling has fared well against this lineup in the past and will look to do the same once again today.

As always, trust the numbers when looking for a scoreless first inning.

New York Mets vs. Milwaukee Brewers No Run First Inning

7:40 p.m. ET

Today, we will get two of the best pitchers in baseball to take over in the first inning. To start, Corbin Burnes will get things rolling against the Mets. Burnes is putting up his usual Cy Young numbers with a 2.96 ERA, .98 WHIP and insane 25-3 NRFI record.

While at home this season, he is 14-1 to the NRFI and should extend that to 15-1 here.

Burnes will be taking on the Mets as they travel to the depths of Milwaukee. The Mets have only scored in the first inning in two of their last 10 games and will have to face one of the league’s best here today. Burnes has a 3.00 ERA against the Mets this season through 6.0 innings with a successful NRFI under his belt.

Next, we will put our trust in Max Scherzer’s hand as he takes on the Brewers on their home turf. Mad Max is 15-5 to the NRFI this season while holding an incredible 2.26 ERA. In his last 12.0 innings pitched, Scherzer has only allowed 2 runs and should also extend his NRFI record in a positive manner here.

Scherzer will be taking on the Brewers on their home field in this late-night matchup. The Brewers lineup bats .247 against Scherzer through 146 at-bats while striking out 56 times. The 2-hole and 3-hole hitters are a combined 1-10 (.100 BA) against Scherzer which should favor the right-hander here.

As always, trust the numbers when looking for a scoreless first inning.
