Guardians vs. White Sox Pick
Cleveland Guardians (14-14) @ Chicago White Sox (14-13)

Zach Plesac ostensibly seems like a nice guy. Unfortunately, he’s a subpar starter at best. 1.41 WHIP and 4.44 ERA is not ideal and the win-loss record does mean more to these pitchers than it should. Meanwhile Kopech has been excellent, with 23 Ks over 23 innings pitched and a 1.17 ERA.
He hasn’t needed to stretch into the later innings either because the White Sox have an elite bullpen to finish the game. Cleveland has been hitting recently so this will be a challenge, but the numbers line up well for the Sox tonight.

Marlins vs. Diamondbacks Pick
Miami Marlins (13-15) @ Arizona Diamondbacks (15-14)

Both these starters have been very hittable this year. Elieser Hernandez is having a tough time, with a 6.66 ERA to start the season and a high hard hit rate through his career. Worse still, he has historically really struggled against lefties, which the Diamondbacks have an abundance of. They could field a line-up of 9 left handed hitters with the switch hitters, 6 of them being naturally lefties.
On the other side, Humberto Castellanos hasn’t been scaring much either. He’s improved over his career averages this year, but if we’re believing he’s hitting a peak then the ceiling is low. Both these teams should be scoring frequently today, 9 runs is a minimum.
