Reds vs. Mets Betting Preview:
7:10 p.m. ET
Nobody is hotter than the Mets right now. A tough 5 game series against the Braves was no match for New York, as they took home 4 of 5 and covered the run line in each win.
The pitching has been great and overall the screws are just tight. But the true engine of this team is the hitting. They’re averaging 6 runs per game over their last 14, the highest clip in the MLB. And frankly that’s against tougher opponents than the Cincinnati Reds.
The Reds pitching staff has not been excellent this year. Justin Dunn is starting tonight and has actually been a solid starting option. But lately he hasn’t been pitching very deep into games and a bullpen game does not bode well for the Reds.
At 5.04, the combined bullpen ERA of the Reds is by far the worst in the league. They’re also fourth-highest in home runs, and second in WHIP and in walks.
All this to say don’t be worried if the Mets don’t start as hot. Even if they don’t, the late game work should be more than enough to get them over this line.
The pendulum has swung and we’re getting big value on the Yankees tonight. Amid a tough streak, it’s easy to forget how good this Yankees squad is. Yes they’ve lost 5 in a row, but it’s been a tight margin in most of them. And they’ve squandered significant leads.
This team knows what they have to do to win and they have all the tools to do it. Logan Gilbert is a slight upgrade to Jameson Taillon but the Yankees make up that ground with the bullpen.
The Mariners have talent as well but they aren’t consistent enough to be confident in. Not yet. This will be a good test to see whether the last series win was a fluke, but the Yankees aren’t getting enough credit for what they’ve earned this season.
