The Marlins have scored the 2nd lowest amount of first inning runs in the MLB this season, while the Pirates have scored the 3rd lowest. The Pirates rank 28th in runs per game overall, while Miami ranks 20th. On the road, Pittsburgh has scored the 5th least runs in the league. At home, Miami has scored the 9th least.
Do you see where I am getting at? Let’s keep going. Miami has failed to score a first inning run in seven straight games, while Pittsburgh has failed to do so in 13 of their last 14 games. Braxton Garrett has not allowed a first inning run yet this season.
Zach Thompson has held teams scoreless in the first inning in back to back starts. This is an ideal NRFI matchup and a play we all need to attack. Six outs for glory!
