The Marlins continue the fourth of a seven-game road stretch with their first game in Washington tonight. Trevor Rogers has been pretty iffy to start the season as a starter for the Marlins.
He hasn’t made it past the fifth inning since April and he’s given up at least 3 runs in six of his last seven starts. The Nationals have the bats to take advantage.

On the other side, Josiah Gray takes the mound for the Nationals, which is not much of an upgrade. His total ERA of 3.82 hides a much worse figure of 5.91 in home games. He’s given up 15 home runs on the season and 10 at home. He throws hard, but he’s also hit hard.
Neither team has much of a bullpen to brag about and both will likely be getting a lot of work tonight. Take the over with a bump for being broadcast on ESPN.
Put simply, the Brewers own the Pirates. In the six divisional matchups this year, the Brewers have won all six times. Only one of those six wins was a 1-run game and it wasn’t a Corbin Burnes game.
Burnes has been backing up his ridiculous season from last year with a similarly dominant one this year. He’s third in strikeouts with 119, eigth in ERA at 2.41 and fifth in WHIP at 0.92.
He’s also been able to stretch his starts longer and longer, going for 6.0, 7.0 and 7.2 innings in his last three starts. Not that he needs to with the strength of Milwaukee’s bullpen.
Nothing about this game is leaning toward the Pirates — they’ve been cold lately, are hitting very poorly and give up a lot of runs. We have here one of the easiest calls of the season.
