While I usually gravitate towards strikeout props, I decided to switch it up today. I really love this matchup for the red hot Mariners vs Texas this afternoon.
The Mariners are in the midst of the best baseball they’ve played all season. They are winners of 12 straight games, and are set up nicely to attempt a 13th straight win. They have one of their top arms on the mound, Logan Gilbert. Logan is 10-3 with a 2.80 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP.

He has been stronger in away games with a 2.47 ERA, and seems to favor day games with a 2.51 ERA. He has been rock solid vs the Rangers as well this season with a 0.71 ERA in 12.2 innings.
The Mariners have won the run line in 6 of Logan’s last 10 starts, and have won both games he has started vs the Rangers.
My favorite part of this play is who is on the mound for Texas. This is a fade Spencer Howard play here. Spencer was once a really solid prospect for the Phillies, but has had little to no success since coming to the majors. 89.2 innings into his MLB career, he has a 7.13 ERA and a 1.63 WHIP.
He has struggled mightily over the last 2 seasons with a 9.70 ERA last season, and a 8.04 ERA so far this year. He was stretched out to 84 pitches last start, so I think he pitches a large majority of the first 5 innings, giving Seattle ample chances to capitalize on this matchup.
If you’re giving me -110 for the hottest team in the majors to beat Spencer Howard through 5 innings, I will happily take my chances here.
