Let’s dive into everybody’s favorite MLB betting market: No Run First Inning. Today, we get a divisional showdown between the Los Angeles Angels and the Houston Astros.
Cristian Javier takes the mound against L.A., a team he recently started against. In that start, he allowed only 1 hit and 1 earned run in seven innings pitched.

That hit was evidently a home run via Shohei Ohtani in the first inning. The difference today is that Ohtani will be pitching, which could exhaust him a bit for his first-inning at-bat.
Javier had a rough outing in his last start but was stellar in his three starts prior. In those three, he allowed a total of 2 runs in 19 innings pitched. That is the Javier I expect to see tonight.
As mentioned, Ohtani takes the mound for L.A. The Astros have only scored in the first inning once in their last nine games. They are also short-handed with Yordan Alvarez and Michael Brantley on the IL.
The Angels have some injuries of their own as well. They will be missing Anthony Rendon, and potentially Mike Trout after he left the game last night.
These injuries take away four very potent first-inning bats, increasing the likelihood of no run scored tonight.
With weaker lineups, strong pitching on both ends, and great data/trends behind both teams, I feel this play will cash a lot easier than we assume.
Let’s lock it in and cash yet another NRFI. Six outs for glory!
