Jon Rahm continued his reign of dominance last week at The American Express, winning the tournament for his fourth win in the last six tournaments he has played — he finished no worse than T8 in the same span. Rahm, just four weeks into the season, has matched his career high in wins in a single season. He now has a total of 19 wins in his career and will look to add to the total this week.
The Tour is still in the thick of the west coast swing and heading a few hours south to San Diego for the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open played at the iconic Torrey Pines Golf Course.

Farmers Insurance Open has been played under various names since 1952 and has been played at Torrey Pines Golf Course since 1968. The players will play one round each at both the North and South course in the first two days with a cut down to the top 65 pros players and ties after 36 holes. The last two days will finish on the South Course.
The weather is forecasted for temps in the high 50s and wind could play a factor on Thursday.
Farmers Insurance Open is held at the beautiful Torrey Pines Golf Course. The course is a municipal course, owned by the city of San Diego. The course has 36 total holes split between the North and South Course, both originially designed by William F. Bell in 1957, the North and South course went through redesigns in 2016 by Tom Weiskopf and the 2001 by Rees Jones, respectively.
The North course, only played once this week, is shorter and statistically the easier of the two courses measuring 7,258 yards, par 72, so players will want to take advantage of easier scoring the day they are on the North course.
The South course is the longest course to host a PGA Tour event, measuring 7,765 yards, par 72. As such, driving distance will be a premium playing the South course and will be needed to go low this week.

The current favorite to win the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open and going for three straight, is Jon Rahm (+450), who is followed by Xander Schauffele (+1200) and Tony Finau (+1200) to round out the Top 3.

For those who follow weekly, this may begin to sound like a broken record. Jon Rahm is again this week’s odds favorite and my pick for this week’s winner. The numbers and his play continue to back it up as well, as he is currently in the Top 3 of Stroke Gained: Off the Tee, Tee to Green, and Total.
In the previous seven tournaments played at Torrey Pines, Jon Rahm has finished in the Top 7 all but once. If Rahm can continue to putt well, there is no reason he won’t continue his hot streak and be hoisting the trophy Saturday for his third straight win.
Tony Finau has continued to play well into this season, picking up right where he left off last season. He is currently in the Top 10 of Stroke Gained: putting, tee to green, and total. So while his driver and length off the tee is often his strong suit, he has found a way to win different ways as of late but the distance will certainly help this week.
The golf and betting world is beginning to catch on to the Taylor Montgomery effect. He continued his strong play last week, finishing fifth. In his last nine tournaments he has played, he has finished T15 or better in eight of them.
