This week the Tour is heading south of the border to the beautiful El Camaleón Golf Course at Mayakoba, Riviera Maya, Mexico. This will mark the Tour’s first of two stops in Mexico this season to play the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba.
The World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba has been played under various names since 2007. It is a 72-hole, stroke play tournament, with a cut after 36 holes down to the top 65 players and ties.
The weather has an opportunity to play a factor this week with the threat of storms and rain high on Thursday. The course is located along the ocean so gusty winds can also play a factor.
The World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba is held at the El Camaleón Golf Course. It was designed by golf great Greg Norman in 2006 and has hosted PGA Tour events since 2007.
The course blends perfectly with its surrounding natural habitats winding through jungles, mangroves and beach areas, which provide plenty of natural and water hazards.
The course is par 71, 7,039 yards and plays as one of the easier courses on the Tour with the last five winners averaging just under (-21). Driving accuracy will play a major factor this week with tight fairways and hazards lining the course, long drives will not necessarily be a prerequisite for winning here.
Par 3 scoring will be a stat to watch as three of the four par 3s are measuring under 155 yards. Strokes gained: approach will lead to racking up the birdies this week for the field.

Current odds on favorites to win the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba is a tight grouping, led by Official World Golf Rankings No. 2, Scottie Scheffler (+900), followed by the reigning, back-to-back champion Viktor Hovland (+1100). Colin Morikawa (+1400) rounds out the top three.

Viktor has the opportunity for a three-peat with a win this week at the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba. He has been playing well this season, tying for 5 and 21 in the first two tournaments he has played this year.
He is strong off the tee and has also shown he can win at this course and holds the tournament record for aggregate score to par.
Morikawa has not had the strongest start to the season this year and has never played this course, but this course will play well to his strengths and could be the jump start he needs.
This season and last, he is in the top 20 strokes gained: approach to green and tee to green, which will play major factors this week. His putting is something to keep an eye on but the greens are slower than most other tour courses which should help.
Scottie Scheffler just lost his No. 1 world golf ranking and will likely be doing everything he can to get back on top. Finishing in the top 10 is easier said than done but Scottie has all the tools to compete and a little extra motivation to get back to No. 1.
