2022 Cadence Bank Houston Open

  • Dates: November 10-13, 2022
  • Location: Memorial Park Golf Course, Houston
  • Purse: $8,400,000
  • Defending Champ: Jason Kokrak

The Cadence Bank Houston Open has been played under various names in the greater Houston area nearly every year since 1946. The tournament field is composed of 132 players and is a 72-hole, stroke-play tournament, with a cut after 36 holes down to the top 65 players and ties.

The weather should not play a major factor this week, although temperatures are forecasted to drop from the high 70s to the high 50s overnight from Friday to Saturday. The cold weather combined with potential wind gusts has the opportunity to lengthen the course.

What Course is the Cadence Bank Houston Open Held at?

The Cadence Bank Houston Open is held at the Memorial Park Golf Course, which has hosted the tournament 16 times — as long ago as 1947 and as recently as last year. The course is unique because it is a municipal course, originally opened as a 9-hole course in 1912.

The course was redesigned as an 18-hole course by John Bredemus in 1936 and renovated to its current state in 2019 by Tom Doak with help from Brooks Koepka as the player consultant.  The course hazards feature water and strategic bunkers placed in landing areas around the sloping greens.

The course is par 70, 7,412 yards and has played as one of the harder courses since returning in 2019 and the last two winners averaging just under (-12). The course has a way of challenging every facet of the game which means it will take an all-around great performance to win this week. Players will benefit from length off the tee but only if they are accurate as well.

Putting always plays a factor but will be a game changer this week, the last two winners took home the hardware thanks to great putting weeks. Strokes gained: Off the Tee, Approach to Green and Putting will be the stats to keep an eye on this week.

2022 Cadence Bank Houston Open Picks & Predictions

Scottie Scheffler Tournament Winner | +600 at BetMGM

It seems like it may have taken some time for Scottie Scheffler to knock some rust off from his break after last season’s incredible finish. It clearly did not take very long after a final round of 62 last weekend and finished tied for third. There is a reason Scheffler is the favorite this week and his all-around game plays well on paper for a high finish this week.

Aaron Wise Top 5 Finish | +333 at BetMGM

Aaron Wise finished T15 last week and sixth in the CJ Cup. He has been strong off the tee in the last few years and has been putting extremely well as of late. If he can continue his consistent play, keep an eye for him atop the leaderboard this weekend.

Taylor Montgomery Top 10 Finish | +188 at BetMGM

Taylor Montgomery continues his great play this year, of the five tournaments he has played in, his worst finish was T15. His game sets up extremely well this week and is top 5 strokes gained: Putting. He should continue this strong play and if he does, will be a lock for a top-10 finish this week.
