MLS Best Bets, Picks & Predictions: Back St. Louis on Saturday

My favorite MLS play of the weekend is the newcomers to the league. St. Louis City has started the first 13 matches of their franchise at the top of the Western conference standings. After winning five straight matches to start the season, they did tail off a bit but have regained their form. They have performed better than anyone has predicted and have gone from +7500 to +1100 to win the championship in just 13 matches. 

The biggest factor in making this my MLS play of the week is St Louis’ home record vs. Houston’s away record. St. Louis has won five out of seven home matches and have one of the best home atmospheres in the league. Fan Support has been through the roof for the new franchise, and it looks like it was a great selection for the MLS.

Houston are currently hanging onto the last playoff spot and hold the worst road record in the league. With only two points in their past seven matches, I do not see them walking into this atmosphere and escaping with even a draw.
