Pennsylvania Sports Betting

Pennsylvania, with its proximity to New Jersey (the 1st state to legalize), quickly followed suit by legalizing sports betting in November 2018. By almost every measure, including handle and ease of use, PA has positioned itself as a leader among legal sports betting states.

Online and Mobile sports betting was legal from the inception of the sports betting bill in Nov 2019. It took a few months for a legal sportsbook app to launch, but in May 2019 regional casinos SugarHouse (now BetRivers) and Parx, launched online. Then, in July 2019, the mobile scene exploded when national player FanDuel launched their mobile sportsbook in the Commonwealth. Since then, a total of 13 books have received licenses to offer legal sports betting both in-person and online.
