Baylor comes into 2022 as the defending Big 12 champion after knocking off Oklahoma State 21-16 in the conference championship game last season.
Like Pittsburgh in the ACC, Baylor was also a +4000 longshot to win the conference. And like Clemson, the odds-on favorite of Oklahoma at -130 did not qualify for the title game.
Oklahoma is the favorite again this year, but not by much.
The Sooners are listed at +175, followed closely by Texas at +230. Oklahoma State is +700 and Baylor +900 to repeat.
There’s a lot of uncertainty around Oklahoma after the departure of head coach Lincoln Riley and several key transfers, so it’ll be interesting to keep an eye on fall camp in Norman to see how the Sooners are shaping up.

Big 12 Championship Futures Betting Picks, Prediction
It’s certainly been an interesting offseason for the Sooners. Former head coach Lincoln Riley bolted for USC, followed by QB Caleb Williams.
After a brutal start to his 2021 season and subsequent benching, their other QB Spencer Rattler transferred to South Carolina. Oklahoma tapped long-time Clemson offensive coordinator Brent Venables as their next head coach.
Venables brings years of experience of national wins and CFP berths. Big-game losses have hindered the program for years.
But, with the addition of Venables, Sooner faithful should feel confident those days are behind them.
The reigning Big 12 champs enter the season fourth in the odds list at +900. Aided by a huge late-season wins over Oklahoma, Baylor found themselves in the Big 12 championship game.
After winning a hard-fought Big 12 championship, the Bears won the Sugar Bowl over Ole Miss. Second-year QB Blake Shapen was named the starter after the Spring Game.
Shapen started just two games in 2021, none bigger than their Big 12 championship win. With a full offseason to prepare as the starter, Shapen is poised to lead the Bears on a run at the conference title.
Oklahoma State was on the doorstep of their first ever CFP appearance in 2021. All they had to do was win the Big 12 championship game over No. 9 Baylor.
Instead, they dropped the title game and wound up in the Fiesta Bowl. The Cowboys still finished the season strong, beating Notre Dame 37-35.
Oklahoma State is seemingly always overshadowed by bigger national names like Oklahoma and Texas. They are always in the conversation of potential Big 12 winners but have yet to break through in recent history.
Now that the Cowboys have had a taste of success and a taste of heartbreak in the Big 12 championship, I’m looking for them to bounce back strongly.
2022 Big 12 Champion Prediction: Oklahoma | +175 at BetMGM
Oklahoma fans should have a lot to be excited about going into 2022.
It’s certainly a blow that their coach left unexpectedly. But, the addition of Venables and transfer QB Dillon Gabriel brings a ton of winning experience to a program very close to getting over the hump.
