2021 was full of surprises in the ACC. Clemson had a down year, leading to a Pittsburgh vs. Wake Forest ACC Championship Game.
Pittsburgh defeated the Demon Deacons 45-22 to win the conference after beginning the season as a longshot with +4000 odds.
Clemson not even making the title game at -900 odds shows that nothing is a sure bet in college football.
This year, Clemson is the odds-on favorite again, though not as heavily. The Tigers are listed at -140, followed by Miami and North Carolina State at +700 each.
It’s rare to see Clemson at such a low price, and those odds could get driven up by money coming in on the Tigers before the season begins.
Who is the Favorite to win the 2022 ACC Football Championship?

By their standards, Clemson had a down year last year. A lot of their struggles were a result of some very inconsistent QB play from first-year starter DJ Uiagalelei.
The young QB ended the season with more interceptions than touchdowns on the way to a nine-win regular season.
The ACC saw some fresh faces in the championship game between Wake Forest and Pitt.
The Tigers will go as far as their second-year starter can take them. With a full offseason to take command of the offense, I’m looking for Uiagalelei to take a big leap forward.
To make a savvy longshot pick in the ACC, first you need to start by avoiding Clemson’s division.
The ACC Coastal has been a toss-up for many years as an established force has yet to emerge. UNC lost their starting QB to the NFL after a disappointing 6-7 2021 season. Now, the Heels have a QB battle on their hands between Jacolby Criswell and Drake Maye.
Entering his fourth season, Mack Brown has his biggest test yet with this Tar Heel team. Without an NFL talent at the QB position, the Heels will need to rely on a complete team effort to make a run at the Coastal title.
It wouldn’t be an ACC preview without talking about the U.
Miami had a very interesting offseason. Former coach Manny Diaz was blindsided as he was let go after just three seasons. The Hurricanes tapped Oregon coach Mario Cristobal to lead the program.
My “Is Miami Back Meter?” is still leaning toward no. But, with the addition of Cristobal and the development of second-year starter Tyler Van Dyke, Miami is well-positioned to make noise in the weak ACC Coastal division.
