The second annual field of dreams game takes place tonight in the cornfields of Iowa. The young rookie Reds sensation Nick Lodolo takes center stage to show off his K prowess against the Cubs. This kid has got some crazy swing and miss stuff. In just a few starts into his rookie year he’s already in the 93rd percentile of the league with a 1.35 K/Inning average. He’s gone over 6.5 strikeouts in 5 of his last 8 starts. 

Speaking of strikeouts, the Cubbies just happen to be obsessed with them, especially against lefties like Lodolo. The Cubs have the 4th MOST strikeouts in the league against lefties. On top of that they have the 6th WORST K Rate against lefties. To really show a recent trend, the Cubs have the 3rd MOST K’s in the league the past 7 days. Anyone noticing a pattern here?

So here we have a lefty pitcher with killer swing and miss stuff, against a team that is really whiff prone against lefties and is on a recent upward K trend. This particular matchup right here checks all those JP K prop boxes that I look for. It’s time to exploit a mismatch. My JP K prop sense is definitely tingling!
