It’s finally time for Jacob deGrom’s return. His half of the inning should be easy, especially with Juan Soto and Josh Bell being traded by Washington earlier today.
The Mets are a great first inning team; however, with 3 of 6 outs seeming easy, there is great value here to bet on a clean inning from Washington pitcher Cory Abbott.
Abbott is an opener and in his first four innings pitched this season, he has only allowed 2 hits. He has 6 strikeouts in that span as well.
The Mets have only scored in the first inning once in the last five games. It will be interesting to see how the Nationals respond to their roster mix up tonight, and how deGrom will perform in his first start back.
All of the data and variables going into this matchup point to one thing — no run being scored in the first inning.
