Royals vs. Yankees Betting Preview

7:05 p.m. ET

The biggest pitching mismatch on Friday goes in favor of the New York Yankees.

The Royals will send out Kris Bubic. The 24-year-old comes in today at 2–6 with a 5.53 ERA paired with a 1.65 WHIP. Unfortunately, Kris Bubic is actually this bad.

He has an expected ERA of 5.71 which places him firmly in the bottom 4% of the league. Bubic is predominantly a fastball pitcher. Hitters have slashed for an outstanding .339 batting average against his fastball, which he throws over half the time. This has forced Bubic to rank poorly in a lot of major pitching categories.

The Yankees will counter with their ace, Gerrit Cole. Cole is on the complete opposite side of the spectrum when it comes to pitching compared to Bubic. Cole enters today with a record of 9-3 with an ERA of 3.09. Now for Cole, his ERA is true. He has an expected ERA of 3.04.

Cole did have a lot of issues post the spider tack ban but he most certainly has ironed out those problems.

The Yankees are a hot, winning 23 of their last 28 home games. They are also 9-2 in their last 11 games on a Friday.

In addition, the Royals have lost 13 of their last 16 games against the Yankees. Back Gerrit Cole today on the run line as Yankees bats should jump on Bubic early.
