Royals vs. Twins Betting Preview

7:40 p.m. ET

Today the biggest pitching mismatch goes in favor of the Minnesota Twins.

The Kansas City Royals will send out 24-year-old Kris Bubic. Coming into today Bubic is just 2–6 with a 5.02 ERA. The worst has yet to come for Bubic as his expected ERA is 5.95.

This places him firmly in the bottom 8% of the league. Bubic’s unsuccessful 2022 season has stemmed from his four-seam fastball. Throwing it over 52% of the time, he has allowed hitters to slash for a .329 average off of it.

Throwing this fastball over half of the time has made Bubic ranked poorly and in a lot of major pitching categories as well. Bubic ranks in the 9th percentile in expected batting average against with a .276 batting average against.

He also ranks in the 8th percentile in hard-hit percentage, and lastly the 28th percentile in average exit velocity. This all displays that when Bubic does get hit, it is for significant contact.

The Minnesota Twins will counter with Joe Ryan coming into today Ryan is 8–5 with a 3.95 ERA. Unlike Bubic, Ryan’s four-seam fastball is spectacular throwing it over 58% of the time hitters have only managed to hit for a .187 average off of it.

With the pitching mismatch being largely in favor of the Twins. We will pair it with the fact that the Kansas City Royals are 3-9 in the last 12 games on the road while the Twins are 12-2 in the last 14 games on a Monday. Take the Twins on the run line today.
