Orioles vs. Blue Jays Betting Odds
7:07 p.m. ET
Today the biggest pitching mismatch goes in favor of the Toronto Blue Jays. The Baltimore Orioles will send out 14th-round pick Dean Kremer. Coming into today, Kremer is 4-4 with a 3.69 ERA, but the worst is yet to come for him.
He holds an expected ERA of 4.86 his fastball is his main pitch. He throws it over 44% of the time and hitters have only hit for a lousy .202 average against it, but this pitch is due for some regression as the expected batting average is .245.
Being mainly a fastball pitcher has forced him to rank poorly and a lot of major categories. He ranks in the 12th percentile of expected batting average, the 14th percentile in hard-hit rate and lastly the 28th percentile in barrel percentage.
Ranking poorly in these three categories is not a recipe for success. This displays that when Kremer does get hit, the contact is significant.
The Blue Jays are coming off a loss at home yesterday to the Orioles. They will send out their ace in Alek Manoah. Coming into today, Manoah is 12-5 with a 2.56 ERA. Manoah’s slider is arguably one of the best sliders in baseball. Throwing it over 28% of the time, hitters have only slashed for a .197 average against it.
The Blue Jays are slumping at the wrong time. The Yankees have lost 10 other last 13 games and the Blue Jays are just 1-5 in their last six. Look for the Blue Jays to bounce back today and get a game on the Yankees.
Take the Blue Jays on the run line today at home.
