The “Best Bet” series is back again and looking to be a winner for the fourth time in a row! Tonight we focus on a great value play sitting at around (+130) odds. Our “Best Bet” is the under on Jordan Montgomery’s strikeouts.
I know what you’re thinking – the Orioles suck. They do, but haven’t let Jordan strike them out much this season. In three starts against BAL, Montgomery has not gone over 4.5 strikeouts once. He is averaging 3 strikeouts per start against the O’s this season, surprisingly. Montgomery is showing extreme K splits this season. Striking lefties out at 40% while righties out at only 16%.
The entire Orioles lineup except for Cedric Mullins will be batting from the right side tonight. His biggest strikeout pitch is his curveball, which has a 40% whiff rate. The Orioles projected lineup has only three batters whiffing 30%+ against lefty curveballs.
Two of those three hitters also happen to have the highest hard contact rates on the team against curveballs, so hopefully we see Jordan getting knocked around. This is a great value play with proven history and recent data. It’s worth a shot at +130 and I love this play to be our fourth straight winner. Let’s lock it in!
