The “Best Bet” series is back again with everyone’s favorite betting market: No Run First Inning. The Best Bet has provided wins on back to back days and today we look to make it three in a row.

We will be targeting one of the afternoon games today for some early action. Corbin Burnes takes the mound today against Max Fried in a very interesting matchup. These two battled on May 7th of this season, where no run was scored in the first inning.

In fact, out of five games played against these teams there was only a run scored in the first inning once. This game finalizes a three game series in which only four total runs were scored across the first two games.

Burnes gets an elite matchup against a team striking out the 5th most in the league to right handed pitching. The Braves will also be missing Andrew McCutchen (Covid) and Willy Adames (Ankle) which is massive for this first inning play.

Burnes is much better against right handed batters and we will see four of the first five Atlanta bats on that side of the plate. Fried gets a ground ball friendly matchup in which three of the first four Milwaukee batters have 40%+ ground ball rates against LHP.

Two of those hitters actually have ISO’s of 0.000 against lefties this season (Smaller sample sizes). With an over/under of 6.5 today, this feels like the prime spot to target for a good ‘ole NRFI. Let’s lock it in and go for three wins in a row.
