Marlins vs. Cardinals Betting Preview
7:45 p.m. ET
We dropped the first five under in this article last night, but we’re going straight back to the Miami Marlins vs. St. Louis Cardinals tonight. We’re grabbing two player props here, and specifically making a same-game parlay at DraftKings Sportsbook.
Braxton Garrett has seen limited time in MLB, and he’s seen mixed results early on. Overall, he’s posted a 1-2 record with a 4.08 ERA through four starts. He’s also recorded a 4.06 xFIP this season.
Although Garrett has found success on the road early this season, it’s only a matter of time before regression catches up to him. Through only 9.2 road innings, he’s posted a 2.79 ERA with a 4.55 xFIP.
Even with his road success, Garrett is giving up a .275 average with a .425 slugging percentage to his opponents on the road. He’s also allowed a 37.1% hard-hit rate outside of Miami, which is drastically higher than his 23.1% hard-hit rate at home.
The biggest key to this play is Garrett’s struggles against right-handed batters, though. On the season, righties are hitting for a .333 average with a .500 slugging percentage. They’ve recorded a 35.7% hard-hit rate against Garrett as well.

Paul Goldschmidt doesn’t need all that much of an explanation. He’s hitting for a .451 average with an .843 slugging percentage and a 1.384 OPS against left-handed pitching this season. It’s an extremely small sample size, but he’s hitting a ridiculous .550 at home against lefties in 2022.
Goldschmidt has been unstoppable against every pitcher at home this season. He’s recorded at least 1 hit in 22 of his last 25 home games this season. On the season, he’s averaging 1.5 hits per game in St. Louis.
The bigger question mark is Juan Yepez. He’s found success against left-handed pitching this season, though. He’s hitting for a .276 average with a .414 slugging percentage and a .767 OPS against lefties.
Yepez has also found plenty of success in St. Louis this season. He’s recorded at least 1 hit in 17 of his last 23 home games. He’s also been heating up, recording 1+ hits in 11 of his last 12 home games. He also owns a 34.9% hard-hit rate in St. Louis this season.
Goldschmidt and Yepez are hitting third and fifth in the Cardinals lineup tonight. I’m expecting St. Louis to get to Garrett early in this game, giving them ample opportunities in this matchup.
Once Garrett is out of the game, they get a matchup against a relatively average Miami bullpen tonight. This should favor the hitters quite a bit tonight.
