The Presidents Cup did not disappoint in its time to shine, with no PGA Tour event on the schedule last week. It seemed like the USA was going to run away with the cup early but the international team kept on USA’s heels through the weekend. Both teams were extremely fun to watch and the weekend was a reminder of how much fun team golf is for the players but especially the fans.

This week is back to normal and the Tour is making its first and only stop in the Magnolia State, for the Sanderson Farms Championship at The Country Club of Jackson in Jackson Mississippi.
2022 Sanderson Farms Championship
September 29 – October 2, 2022
The Country Club of Jackson, Jackson, MS
Purse: $7,900,000
Defending Champ: Sam Burns
The Sanderson Farms Championship has been played as an official PGA Tour event since 1994 and was played as an alternate event, opposite the Masters and Open since 1968. It is a 72-hole, stroke-play tournament, with a cut after 36 holes down to the top 65 players and ties.
The weather should not play much of a factor at all this week with temperatures in the low to mid-80s all week and little chance of rain.
What Course Is The Sanderson Farms Championship Held At?
The Sanderson Farms Championship is held at the Country Club of Jackson in Jackson, MS. The course was opened in 1913 and moved from its original location in the heart of Jackson to its current location in 1963. The course was originally designed by Dick Wilson and redesigned in 2008 by John Fought.
The course is par 72, 7,461 yards and often plays as one of the easier courses on the Tour. The last five winners have averaged just under (-20), so scoring chances are readily available. While it certainly helps, the long drives are not a prerequisite for winning here — two of the last five winners found themselves outside of the top 90 in driving distance. The emphasis will be put on ball striking and putting this week.

How many Golfers are in the 2022 Sanderson Farms Championship?
The tournament field is composed of 144 players and as it is the tournament after the Presidents Cup and the second of the season, the field is not the strongest. At 12 in the Official World Golf Rankings, reigning champ Sam Burns is the highest ranked player in the field which features only four other players in the Top 50.
Who has the Best Odds of Winning the 2022 Sanderson Farms Championship?
Current odds favorites to win the Sanderson Farms Championship is reigning champ Sam Burns +1000, followed by Sahith Theegala +1800, and J.T. Poston +2000 to round out the top 3.
For those of you who have been following weekly, this is going to sound like a broken record. Sahith Theegala has been playing well enough to find his first win this week.
Last week, he tied for 6 and has finished in the top 15 in the last three tournaments he played. The weakened field this week should help Theegala in his quest for first PGA Tour win.
