Where Can You Bet on 2023 NFL Draft? Draft Betting State Laws Explained

The 2023 NFL Draft gets underway on Thursday, April 27, and it can be a bit confusing to figure out what bets you can place on it. Fortunately, we’re here to help you understand exactly what is possible in your state.

Betting on the NFL draft is different than betting on a game because a game is filled with hundreds of plays and thousands of split-second decisions. The draft, especially in the early part of it, is based on months of evaluation toward one decision.

Because of this, some states that have legal sports betting in general still limit the types of bets one can make on the draft.

NFL Draft Bets Explained

There are several different ways to bet on the NFL Draft, some of which are more creative than others.

Bettors can bet on specific players to be drafted at a certain pick all the way through the top 10 on DraftKings.

There’s also an option to bet on the over/under of a certain player’s draft position. For example, Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid has an over/under set at pick 24.5. If he’s drafted at No. 24 or better, the under cashes. If he falls below 25, the over cashes.

Bettors can also select over/unders on the number of players taken at a certain position during the first round, who will be drafted first in head-to-head matchups, and what order certain players will be selected in relation to others at their position.

Some sportsbooks also allow you to bet on how many players from a certain conference of college football will be drafted in the first round, as well as if Mr. Irrelevant (the last pick in the draft, which happened to be Brock Purdy last year) will be an offensive or defensive player.

Another option is to bet on which position any given team will select with their first pick.
