The NFL is one of the most popular sports in the country, which makes it one of the most heavily bet sports as well.
Once football season rolls around, there will without a doubt be options to bet on NFL games, futures and props on every sportsbook that you use. Look no further to receive a comprehensive guide to betting on the NFL for this year.
NFL Odds, Point Spreads, Moneyline, Player Props & Futures
Just like every sport, the NFL has many different ways to bet on individual games. You can bet for a team to win straight up, or moneyline bets for every matchup available.
You can take a look at the point spread and over/under in the matchup, and place bets on those options. Individual player statistics — aka player props — are widely available to bet on as well.
Player prop bets include how many yards a QB passes for, how many yards an RB rushes for and much more. The options are plentiful and you will have no problem finding a sportsbook that will offer any play you can possibly think of.

Future bets are also a great way to be invested in a team or player for more than one game, as you can place bets on a team to win its division, make the playoffs, win the Superbowl and even the number of regular-season wins.
You can bet individual players to win specific awards such as MVP, Offensive/Defensive Player of the Year, rushing leader, receiving yards leader, etc. Some states do have restrictions on what you can bet for individual player awards, so make sure to pay attention to what your state offers.
Where Can You Bet On the NFL?
These are some of the popular sportsbooks that are in the market today that have bets for NFL:
FanDuel
FanDuel is one of the most recognizable names in sports betting. The sportsbook is one of the best around, and offers a slick interface that is easy to navigate.
DraftKings
DraftKings is also one of the heavy hitters of sportsbooks, having a great interface and frequent boosts and promos to take advantage of.
Caesars
Caesars is a great sportsbook, with a ton of good promotions and odds boosts. We like to call Caesars the OddsBoost God because of the sheer volume of odds boosts they have on a daily basis.
BetMGM
BetMGM has a lot of odds boosts and promos to take advantage of. It also has a wonderful user interface when scrolling through the different types of markets/props you want to bet. It’s very intuitive and easy to navigate.
BetRivers
BetRivers has great daily promos and odds boosts that they call “House Specials.” We love betting those House Specials, as they normally have some profitable bets to make.
PointsBet
PointsBet follows suit with the previous books that offer a generous sign-up bonus. They also have daily odds boosts and generally a sleek interface that is easy to navigate.

NFL Betting Strategies
There are countless strategies to take advantage of when betting on the NFL. Here are a few that are my personal favorite:
Use Stats to Inform Bets
When looking at touchdown scoring props, most touchdowns are scored when the offensive team is in the red zone. There are many tools online that help you understand which players receive the most targets in the red zone, and that will help you in your analysis when picking touchdown scorers.
Consider External Factors
Take into consideration external factors of the game you plan to bet on. Is the team coming off a bye week or are they playing on a short week after a Monday night game the previous week? Did the team have to travel across the country? Are there injuries or new players to account for? Will there be weather issues? Is one team playing for a potential playoff birth or in a must-win situation?
Don’t be Afraid to Live Bet
If you are unsure which way you would like to bet a specific play, wait to live bet. Almost every play you can bet pregame will also be available once the game starts. There will obviously be adjustment to the line as the game progresses compared to the pregame line, but this way you can get a feel for what you would like to take and see how it is playing out in the early parts of the game.

How the NFL Playoffs Work
Playoffs for the NFL are similar to the regular season. The biggest difference in playoff games compared to the regular season, however, is the fact that there cannot be ties in the playoffs — one team must win.
In the regular season, if the overtime period of 10 minutes expires and the teams are still tied, the game will end in a draw. In the playoffs, the OT period is 15 minutes and if time runs out on the first overtime, the teams will play a second overtime and continue to play OT periods until there is a winner.
How to Bet on the Super Bowl
One of the most heavily-bet games in the world is the Super Bowl. Every year, millions of people bet money on the Big Game, and every sportsbook offers different odds boosts, parlays and promos to entice users to bet even more.
Just like every other NFL game, the Super Bowl allows you to be on the point spread, moneyline, point total, player props, game props, etc.
However, one thing that is offered during the Super Bowl that is not offered for every game are the novelty prop bets. During the Super Bowl, you can bet on things like the coin flip, the length of the National Anthem and even the color of the Gatorade dumped on the winning coach.
The list is endless, and this adds a little bit of fun to the game as well. Keep in mind these are novelty props for a reason, so do not bet your entire bankroll on the coin landing on heads!
