WNBA 7/29 Betting Slate, Best Bets & Predictions: Finding Value With the Potential Blowouts

Tonights WNBA betting slate features two of the best teams in the WNBA in the Los Vegas Aces and Chicago Sky, facing off against two of the worst teams in the WNBA in the Indiana Fever and New York Liberty.

The spread for both of these games is in the double digits, as the oddsmakers are predicting both games to be blowouts. With that said, there is still value to be found even in two potential routs.

WNBA Parlay Today – July 29, 2022

1st Leg: Aces 1st Quarter Moneyline | -335 at Caesars

Admittedly, this one is pretty heavily juiced at -335 odds, but for good reason. The Indiana Fever are the worst team in the WNBA by a country mile. They have a net rating of -12.2, and the next closest team has a net rating of -6.5. That is the same difference between the 2nd worst team in the WNBA and the 5th best team in the WNBA.

So, the Fever aren’t just bad, they are comically bad. They have a 5-25 record (no other team has fewer than 10 wins), and since the beginning of June they are an even worse 2-17.

The spread for this game is Aces -14, and for good reason. But, targeting the full game spread is worrisome. The last time these two teams played the Aces built a 24 point lead heading into the 4th quarter, only to rest their players and only win by 11.

So, in protection of a back door cover, I am instead targeting the 1st quarter moneyline. The Aces started strong in that last game building a 6 point lead at the end of 1, and I expect that to continue moving forward tonight.

2 Leg: Chicago Sky 1st Half Moneyline | -345 at Caesars

Once again we are backing the significantly better team to come out to a hot start. The Sky, who are the defending champs, also hold the 2nd best net rating in the entire NBA. Their opponent, the Liberty, have the 3rd worst net rating.

The Sky are 10 point favorites for a reason, but, again, there is always the risk of a backdoor cover. The Sky are also known for starting games fast. They have the best 1st quarter net rating in the WNBA, and the 4th best 1st half net rating.

The Liberty, meanwhile, go from the 3rd worst team in net rating on the season as a whole, to the 2nd worst in 1st half performance. They are only .2 points away from overtaking the lowly Fever for that last spot as well.

All in all backing these two teams, but doing so to start hot as opposed to accepting the full game juice is the way to go here.
