UEFA Champions League Group Stage Draw: Betting Odds, Picks, Group Winners & Teams to Qualify

Champions groups are in and we have some of the most incredible matchups ever. As we prepare for the tournament to begin Sept. 6, let’s give a rundown of all the groups, and future bets brought to you by BetMGM.

Group A: Liverpool, Ajax, Napoli, Rangers

One of the most exciting groups of the tournament. Several fan favorites are brought together so this group should be action-packed. Liverpool are not off to the best start in the English league but the Champions League is a totally different style of play.

New look Ajax looks to continue their form after starting unbeaten in the Netherlands. Napoli have also started the season unbeaten. It is very early but they look like they could be a Serie A title contender. There is just way too much to love about this Napoli squad at those odds.

There are also the long-shot Rangers who have the potential to pull some upsets along the way. Liverpool are still trying to find out who they are after three matches but fully expect them to bounce back. I am doubling down on Napoli because I believe they are better than Ajax and could surprise Liverpool in a head-to-head matchup.

Group B: Atletico Madrid, Porto, Bayer Leverkusen, Club Brugge

This is lining up to be one of the more traditional groups of the tournament. I would not be surprised to see anyone but Club Brugge win this Group. Atletico continue to struggle to score but have always been known for shutting down any opponent’s attack.

Porto are off to a great start in Portugal but it is not a highly competitive league. Bayer Leverkusen are a mess but the potential to be great is still there.

Atletico’s defense is going to take them to the promised land in this group. I believe they have the firepower that will be able to put them over the top to clinch this group, but it will probably come down to the last day. The Porto line is a bit juicy but they are the clear number two in this group and have an outside chance to win it.

Group C: Bayern, Barcelona, Inter, Plzen

The group of death and the one everyone is talking about. Three powerhouse teams in one group and someone is going to be left out. Bayern look unstoppable at the moment, rolling through the Bundesliga with ease but that does not mean they are destined for success.

Barcelona look like the team they are supposed to be after the last match but let’s see if that continues. Inter, the Italian giants look to make another deep run but face tough competition this season. Bayern are playing as well as anyone in the world right now.

Anything can happen in the group of death but there is no way I can pass on a Bayern line at almost even money. So I am going with Inter to qualify which means Barcelona are the odd team out. I love Inter this season and the moves they have made in the window. They have all the pieces to be able to clinch second place in this group.

Group C Team to Qualify Pick: Inter | +110 at BetMGM

Group D: Tottenham, Frankfurt, Marseille, Sporting Lisbon

New-look Tottenham feel like they are serious contenders in England this year. It looks like they have all the pieces in place to run away with this league. Sporting are the wild card with the Ronaldo rumors swirling. Even with the current roster, they have the experience and history of deep runs in this tournament.

Marseille and Frankfurt both are above-average teams that can pull an upset or two. Tottenham are clear favorites and rightfully so. They should have no problem running away with this group.

The second spot is up for grabs between the other three remaining squads. I am locking in Sporting because I strongly believe they will get Ronaldo before the window closes and it will shift the odds greatly.

Group D Team to Qualify Pick: Sporting Lisbon | +175 at BetMGM

Group E: Chelsea, AC Milan, Salzburg, Dinamo Zagreb

This group looks fairly predictable, and the odds show that. Chelsea are the clear favorites and should
have no problem winning this group with the talent they have on paper.

The Italian champs, AC Milan, seem like they are a lock to at least advance to the next round with the talent they have. Salzburg and Dinamo are basically on the same level of play, which is far less than Chelsea or AC Milan.

AC Milan have all the talent in the world and I have no worries about them advancing in the group. While -400 is extremely juicy, I would parlay them to Qualify with something else because it is a slam dunk. Chelsea are also extremely talented, but I believe in the Italian champs to surprise the Group E world.

Group F: Real Madrid, Leipzig, Celtic, Shaktar

Another group in which it feels as though the outcome is already written. Real Madrid are set out to repeat as world champs and look to have an easy group draw to start.

Leipzig are the closest thing to competition for Real Madrid in this group but the talent gap is wide. Celtic have the chance to pull an upset or two.

I know, its gross odds to post but I cannot see any other outcome. Real Madrid are a top 3 team
in the world and Leipzig are miles ahead.

Group G: Man City, Dortmund, Sevilla, Copenhagen

Man City are the favorites again to lift the cup but have never actually lifted the cup. On paper, they are the best squad and should make a deep run.

Dortmund vs. Sevilla for the second spot is a great matchup. Dortmund have the firepower to hang with anyone, but their defense is questionable. Sevilla have made a living on playing defense but one point a match will not help them in this competition.

Another gross line but there will be no other result. Man City are far and away the best team in this group and should run away with no issues. The toss-up is for the second spot between Dortmund and Sevilla. I’m taking the German firepower over the Spanish defense to advance at a nice line.

Group G Team to Qualify Pick: Dortmund | -135 at BetMGM

Group H: PSG, Juventus, Benfica, Maccabi

PSG have the second-best odds to win the cup and it’s hard to argue against them. The attacking line of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappé might be the best in the world of football.

Juventus added a lot of pieces and look to return to the Juventus we all know and love. Benfica are the team that everyone knows a little about, but are a powerhouse in Portugal and on the international level.

PSG are just a different animal and should be able to run through this group with no problem. They are balanced enough on both sides of the ball to make a deep run in this tournament.

I am also going with Benfica over Juventus to qualify. I love Benfica on both sides of the ball, as it looks like they have had no problem replacing Nunez who left for Liverpool in the offseason.
