After three weeks, I truly believe that Real Madrid just like to play with people’s emotions by making it seem like they’re not going to win and pulling it out at the end. It is almost like they get bored and can flip the switch at any moment.
Sevilla was the biggest surprise so far, losing 2-1 to Almeria and crushing parlays everywhere. If you love unders, you were a big winner this week with seven of the 10 matches cashing under 2.5. Let’s jump in to see if that’s the case for Matchday 4.
La Liga Matchday 5 Picks & Predictions
Celta Vigo vs. Cadiz Pick: Team Total Over 1.5 | +100 at DraftKings
Friday, September 2 | 3 p.m. ET
Week 4 kicks off Friday afternoon with Cadiz visiting Celta in a much-needed point grab for Cadiz. Cadiz have started the season 0-3 with no goals scored in those three matches, so clearly not the best start.
Celta have been competitive to start the year with a win, draw and loss, looking good in all three matchups. They have the ability to score goals against lower table teams and I think they do that here. Celta have scored at least 2 goals in five of the last six matchups against Cadiz so love the play at even money.
Real Madrid vs. Real Betis Pick: Under 3.5 | -145 at DraftKings
Saturday, September 3 | 10:15 a.m. ET
Real Madrid are in incredible form to start the season, grabbing maximum points in the three matches so far. Real Betis are also starting the season with three straight wins. They’ve been against lower table competition but still impressive nonetheless.
In the last eight head-to-head matchups, under 3.5 has cashed seven times so history is on our side here. I picture a tight defensive matchup with Betis hoping to walk away with a point at best. Add in that Real Madrid kick-off Champions League three days later, this is a classic go-through-the-motions kind of game.
Ath Bilbao vs. Espanyol Pick: Team Total Over 1.5 | -130 at DraftKings
Sunday, September 4 | 10:15 a.m. ET
This match is viewed as more of a defensive battle over a goal-fest. Bilbao have been rock-solid on the defensive side of the ball with three straight clean sheets to start the season. The attacking side of the ball got things going in the 4-0 win at Cadiz last week.
This pick is more of not trusting the Espanyol defense over the Bilbao attack. Espanyol have allowed at least 2 goals in all three matches this year, so look for that trend to continue.
