Japan vs. Costa Rica Pick: Japan to Nill | -110 at DraftKings

Japan broke a lot of parlays and my heart. Saying that their upset win was amazing is an understatement. Japan managed just three total shots, but scored two goals in the 75’ and 83’ min, making me sick again.

Japanese defense were true to form again. They were able to block several shots and worked as one to stop the German attack. There is not much to say about Costa Rica’s performance vs Spain. The 7-0 Spanish victory was their biggest win in world cup history. Costa Rica did not manage a shot on goal or even a shot attempt! While the Spanish side is a high performing defensive machine, Japan is not far off. 

Belgium vs. Morocco Pick: Morocco ML | -105 at DraftKings

My love for African unders is well documented in this tournament, but the play is still Belgium. Belgium’s firepower is aged but can turn it on in any match.

They looked slow and disinterested at times against Canada, as they were outshot and did not create many chances. The great news is they found that one moment of magic for the 1-0 win, collecting a very important three points in the group.

Morocco also looked sluggish against Croatia and could not find that moment of magic. Their defense was on point but this is not Croatia and I can see another 1-0/2-0 Belgium win incoming. 

Croatia vs. Canada Pick: Canada +0.5 | -125 at DraftKings

Was there another team that lost their first match that more expressive as Canada? Canada had Belgium on the ropes all match but could not find the back of the net. They pressed all match but the Belgium lines were able to hold to grind out three points, but the Canadians deserved a result here.

Croatia was another team that disappointed in the first match and come in as the favorites (-105) against Canada. Croatia faced a very tough Moracco defense and were not able to create anything. They looked lost with no chances created, even though they had the majority of the ball possession. While I expect Croatia to bounce here, Canada will be attacking for a result. Look for Canadian to at least draw with a sprinkle on the Canada ML (+275).
