Bayern shocked, Leverkusen are back and Union Berlin are for real.

Bayern once again can not find the answer to Mönchengladbach. Bayern are now winless in five straight matches vs. their bitter rivals after a 1-1 draw. The Leverkusen of old look to be back after an amazing performance and new attacking players coming in before the window closes.

Union Berlin are here to stay. They looked unstoppable in their most recent win against Schalke and currently sit second on the table. Let’s see what is cooking for Matchday 5!

Bundesliga Matchday 5 Picks & Predictions

Leverkusen vs. Freiburg pick: Leverkusen Moneyline | -110 at DraftKings

Saturday, Sept. 3 | 9:30 a.m. ET

Leverkusen may have finally found their form after a very impressive 3-0 win on the road at Mainz. I am hoping that this win and the incoming Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea are the spark to get this team headed back to the top where they belong. This will be a big test for them to see how the team gels before their champions league matchup next week.

Bochum vs. Bremen Pick: Over 3 | +105 at DraftKings

Saturday, Sept. 3 | 9:30 a.m. ET

Bochum have shown early that they are the worst team in the Bundesliga — unless they can start to turn things around this week at home against Werder Bremen. The history between these two sides has been a goal-fest with 3+ in nine of 10 head-to-head matchups.

Bremen has shown the ability to score goals in this season with a Bundesliga-high 20 total match goals across four matches. If Bochum are going to get back in this race, it has to start with some goals here.

Mönchengladbach vs. Mainz Pick: Over 2.5 | -145 at DraftKings

Saturday, Sept. 3 | 11:30 a.m. ET

Mönchengladbach can not decide if they are contenders or pretenders in the league. They draw to league leaders Bayern and to league bottom feeders in Schalke.

They have always played to the level of their competition and that is a terrible sign if it continues and will not lead to many wins.

Mainz is also higher on the table than expected. They started the season with two wins and a draw but were hammered by Leverkusen last week. Both teams have scored in the last six head-to-head meetings so a third goal should not be hard to come by.
