The Bundesliga officially kicks off this weekend with every team in action. There are some great week one matchups so let’s jump into it.

Bundesliga Matchday 1 Picks & Predictions

Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Bayern Munich Pick: Bayern Team Total Over 2.5 | +100 at DraftKings

Bayern has unquestioned firepower and can quickly light up the scoreboard against anyone. Plus Bayern looked like a much more balanced squad offensively against Leipzig. They were able to pick apart a solid defense with 5 goals by five different players.

Frankfurt, meanwhile, are at the top of the second-tier of talented teams in the Bundesliga. But the Europa champs will not be able to stop the Bavarian machine.

Since you all read my Bundesliga preview article, you all know how high I am on Union and how low I am on Hertha.

American striker Jordan Pefok (Young Boys) joins one of the best home teams in the Bundesliga, scoring in his debut of the cup match.

Union Berlin were so good at home that only Bayern and Dortmund had more points at home. Hertha are in for a long relegation battle with no new additions to a team that finished in the bottom three last year.

This is my favorite play of the weekend so I am doubling down.

Koln vs. Schalke Pick: Koln Over 3 Goals | -115 at DraftKings

Two goal machines meet up for the Sunday matchup. Schalke return to topflight German football after being relegated in the 2020-21 season. They have the goal-scoring ability to be able to stay up this year, but also lack the defensive ability it takes to be competitive.

Koln are looking to improve on their seventh-place finish lead by Anthony Modeste. Modeste’s age kept him from transferring to a big club after finishing fifth in goals scored last season. Look for him to lead the charge against Schalke.

This matchup has all the makings of a shootout.
