Steelers vs. Browns Thursday Night Football Sharp Picks
Thursday, September 22 | 8:15 p.m. ET
Nick Chubb Anytime Touchdown | -110 at DraftKings
There are many reasons why the Browns had an incredible collapse against the New York Jets last week. Nick Chubb was not one of them.
Chubb had 3 rushing touchdowns on the day to pair with 87 yards. He was the life of the Cleveland offense and will look to replicate that performance against the division rival Pittsburgh Steelers.
Given Pittsburgh’s elite defense, it’s safe to assume the Browns will lean on Chubb once again. While he does share carries with Kareem Hunt, he’s the primary goal-line back and will get plenty of opportunities to score.
Chubb has the highest odds in the Anytime Touchdown Scorer column, but we are going to roll with one of the best backs in the league instead of trying to get too cute.
Jacoby Brissett Under 197.5 Passing Yards | -115 at DraftKings
Brissett played significantly better against the Jets last week than he did in Week 1. The Browns passing attack looked to be in sync last week, albeit against a questionable Jets defense.
Jacoby’s 229-yard passing performance last time out has boosted his line for this week and we are going to take advantage of it. The Steelers have one of the league’s top defenses and will make life very difficult for Brissett and this Browns passing attack.
Brissett only had 147 passing yards in their Week 1 win against the Panthers. It’s very evident that head coach Kevin Stefanski is looking for running backs Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt to carry the load until Deshaun Watson returns from his suspension.
Take the under here as this is likely going to be an ugly game for fans of offense.
Steelers +4.5 | -110 at DraftKings
In what is projected to be a low-scoring affair between two questionable teams, taking the points is the smart play. While the Steelers have not looked great in their last two games, particularly on offense, this game will be close.
Show Best & Average Odds
I’m anticipating the Steelers defense to lock down the Cleveland passing attack, but the question lies in the hands of Mitch Trubisky, who has not performed well in his first two games as a Steeler.
Pittsburgh has question marks on offense, as two of their top skill position players in Najee Harris and Chase Claypool have failed to do much to this point.
Still, the low-scoring fair that is likely to come is enough to take the Steelers at +4.5 here.
