It’s a bit of a surprise that this prop has plus odds. CeeDee Lamb is undeniably the Cowboys WR1 following the departure of Amari Cooper to the Browns this offseason. The team clearly has full confidence in Lamb to take over, as they wouldn’t have traded a perennial Pro-Bowl talent in Cooper if they didn’t.
The Buccaneers have a talented, young secondary headlined by Carlton Davis, Sean-Murphy Bunting and Jamel Dean. All of these corners are ascending, but I believe Lamb has the advantage in any of these 1-on-1s.
Given the departure of Cooper, Lamb will become the focal point of the passing attack. Particularly at +110 odds at DraftKings, I like his chances to score. The Cowboys send Lamb on plenty of fade routes in the red zone, giving him the opportunities we need to cash this bet.
While both teams certainly have defensive star power, this over/under line seems low.
The Buccaneers have an absurd wealth of offensive playmakers in Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Julio Jones and Russell Gage. They have Leonard Fournette manning the backfield, and of course, the greatest quarterback of all time.
For the Cowboys, they’ll send out an exciting unit that features Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, Dalton Schultz, Ezekiel Elliot and Tony Pollard.
Both of these teams clearly possess the firepower to score more than 25 points each in order to cash this over. When these two teams met in Week 1 last season, the total points scored was 60. These two rosters are very similar to a year ago, and the high-scoring affair from that game is one of the reasons it’s the SNF opener.
Tampa’s young secondary is promising, but I expect the Cowboys’ big three in Prescott, Schultz and Lamb to be able to find the end zone. Dallas’ corner room is also promising, but it’s impossible to ignore the weapons at the disposal of Tom Brady.
Take the over here and watch the offensive fireworks.
There is no reason to ever bet money against Tom Brady. In 2021, the Buccaneers, fresh off a Super Bowl win, looked to once again be headed for another title until injuries ripped them apart. Brady and the Bucs then took the Super-Bowl champion Rams all the way until the final minute with a fraction of the roster that will play this Sunday.
The Cowboys feature two of the game’s most exciting young players in linebacker Michah Parsons and cornerback Trevon Diggs. If both continue to improve, the Cowboys defense will be lethal for years to come.
Outside of the projected improvements from these two, the Cowboys did not get better from last season. They traded Amari Cooper away for a ham sandwich and have since lost perennial All-Pro left tackle Tyron Smith to a knee injury.
Outside of a late-season addition in former Vikings standout linebacker Anthony Barr, Dallas did more subtraction than addition since last January. The Bucs, on the other hand, are returning all their injured stars from last year paired with key additions like Akeem Hicks and Julio Jones.
Take the Bucs and don’t look back.
