49ers vs. Broncos Sunday Night Football Sharp Picks

Alright, I know. Everyone is flocking to the 49ers in this one to this point where they were the underdogs a few days ago. I understand the hype surrounding the return of Jimmy Garoppolo and how the team will likely be better with him than Trey Lance.

The Broncos have not yet lived up to their preseason hype, especially given the questionable coaching of Nathaniel Hackett. Still, I believe they are due to break out and this game is it.

Russell Wilson had insane amounts of success against the 49ers during his time in Seattle. His career record against them is 16-4 overall, but more notably 5-1 in their last six games. For whatever reason, Wilson has their defensive scheme figured out.

Had the Broncos been the favorites, I may have leaned more toward the 49ers. However, I believe the dramatic line movement in favor of the 49ers isn’t justified and is hype-driven. Kyle Shanahan’s coaching staff just could not beat Wilson, regardless of the terrible or mediocre Seahawks teams he was playing on.

With that in mind, why would we think Sunday is going to be any different?

Over 45 Points | -110 at Caesars

This point total feels just about right given the Broncos’ offensive struggles.

Still, we are expecting a breakout game for the Russell Wilson era in Denver and the 49ers are not short on playmaking threats. Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk and the possible return of George Kittle make up an impressive receiving core.

The Broncos have a plethora of weapons too, featuring Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy. The 49ers offense looked improved with Jimmy G under center last week, therefore I expect both teams to hold up their halves of the 45 points.

Historically, matchups between Russell Wilson and the 49ers have been pretty high-scoring. Look for that trend to continue on Sunday night.
