Steelers vs. Colts Monday Night Football Sharp Picks

Monday, Nov. 20 | 8:15 p.m. ET

Colts -2.5 | -110 at PointsBet

Suddenly naming Jeff Saturday as head coach was one of the more shocking hires in NFL history. Saturday, a former Pro Bowl center, was hired off the couch on a Monday and then beat the Las Vegas Raiders the ensuing Sunday.

Last week, Saturday’s Colts very nearly beat the Philadelphia Eagles. It took a last-second Jalen Hurts rushing touchdown for the Eagles to secure the victory, which is an impressive feat given where this franchise was just a few weeks ago.

The Steelers had a really solid offensive performance against the Bengals last week. Contrary to how they’ve played all season, it was the defense who struggled. Kenny Pickett and their offense had their best outing of the year against a very good Bengals defense.

While the Steelers offense has improved, we’re going to be backing the Colts at home. They were always a talented team entering this season but couldn’t get anything going under the previous coaching regime. Their play under Saturday the last two weeks is more akin to what I thought the team would look like entering 2022.

This should be a low-scoring affair as both offenses have struggled all season. Indy’s defense has carried the team all season and I’m expecting more of the same.

While the moneyline is a bit too much to buy, we’ll be backing the Colts as slight home favorites.

Matt Ryan Over 1.5 Passing Touchdowns | Shop for the Best Odds Below!

For the Colts to win this game, they’re going to need to find some success in the passing attack, which has been a weakness for the Steelers defense at times this season. Sitting at No. 7 in the league in rush yards allowed per game, Pittsburgh’s defense is going to make life hard on Jonathan Taylor.

With this in mind, I’m anticipating the Colts to lean on Matt Ryan to convert in the red zone, and these odds for him to throw 2 or more touchdown passes are very enticing. This line is ranging as high as +130, which is a great value.

Ryan has not started the whole season, but he’s hit this line in three of his starts. With Pittsburgh’s cornerback room being suspect, the Colts will dial up a number of end-zone shots for standout receiver Michael Pittman in single coverage.

Pass protection will be a concern against T.J. Watt and company, but I think betting on this line is profitable given the odds. The Colts won’t be running on the Steelers in the red zone and we need just two passing touchdowns for one of the game’s veteran gunslingers.
